Introduction
Mountains · Adventure · Villages
The UAE's mountain Emirate brings together high trails, historic villages, desert camps and a long northern coast.
The mountain emirate. Ride the flight line from Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the country, then come down to sea level for a pearl farm tour on the Suwaidi lagoon, where the oysters are still opened by hand. Dhayah Fort holds the hilltop it has held since the eighteenth century, and the view from it explains the whole geography. Dubai is 81 minutes south.
Weather & climate
The coast stays warm while Jebel Jais can be significantly cooler. October to April is ideal for hiking and open-air stays.
