Discover the Emirate

A capital shaped by grand cultural gestures, quiet mangroves and a desert horizon that seems to go on forever.

Begin where the capital's grand cultural gestures meet quiet water. Stand beneath the domes of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, walk the galleries of Louvre Abu Dhabi, and step inside Qasr Al Watan. Then trade the city for the date palms of Al Ain Oasis and the climb to Jebel Hafeet, watch turtles come ashore at Saadiyat's sanctuary, or take a lap of the Yas Marina Circuit. Dubai is 84 minutes away when you are ready for contrast.

Arrival, movement & planning

Arrival & access

Zayed International Airport is the main gateway. Airport taxis are metered, while pre-booked transfers work well for Saadiyat, Yas Island and desert resorts.

Getting around

Taxis and ride-hailing are the simplest city options. Public buses connect the main districts; a private vehicle is useful for Al Ain, Liwa and remote desert stays.

Plan your days

Allow extra time between the city, islands and desert. Reserve major cultural sites and guided mosque visits ahead during peak winter months.

Entry guidance

Entry rules depend on nationality. Passports should generally remain valid for at least six months; always confirm current visa requirements through official UAE channels before travel.

Health & comfort

Travel insurance is recommended. Heat, sun and dehydration are the main everyday considerations; carry water and check personal medical advice before departure.

Emergency numbers

Police 999 · Ambulance 998 · Fire / Civil Defence 997 · Coastguard 996. These numbers can be used from anywhere in the UAE.

Traveller notes

01

Dress respectfully at religious and government sites.

02

Carry a light layer for strongly air-conditioned interiors.

03

Plan mangrove and desert activities around the cooler hours.
