Introduction

Design · Adventure · Neighbourhoods

Discover the Emirate

A city of bold contrasts where creek-side neighbourhoods, desert reserves and ambitious architecture share one restless rhythm.

A city of deliberate contrasts. Cross the creek by abra into the wind-tower lanes of Al Fahidi, then look down on the same water from the top of the Burj Khalifa. Watch the Dubai Fountain at dusk, spend a morning on Kite Beach, board the Queen Elizabeth 2 where she is permanently moored, and give an afternoon to the Museum of the Future. When the city has had enough of you, the dunes of a desert conservation reserve are inside the emirate's own borders — and Sharjah is 26 minutes away.

Arrival, movement & planning

Arrival & access

Dubai International Airport connects directly to the Red Line from Terminals 1 and 3. Taxis and ride-hailing are available around the clock.

Getting around

Metro, tram, buses, taxis, ride-hailing, abras and ferries cover most visitor areas. A rechargeable Nol card is used across the transport network.

Plan your days

Group each day geographically: Creek and old Dubai, Downtown, the coast, or the desert. Cross-city journeys can take longer during peak traffic.

Entry guidance

Entry rules depend on nationality. Passports should generally remain valid for at least six months; always confirm current visa requirements through official UAE channels before travel.

Health & comfort

Travel insurance is recommended. Heat, sun and dehydration are the main everyday considerations; carry water and check personal medical advice before departure.

Emergency numbers

Police 999 · Ambulance 998 · Fire / Civil Defence 997 · Coastguard 996. These numbers can be used from anywhere in the UAE.

Traveller notes

01

Use an abra to cross Dubai Creek and explore both historic banks.

02

Carry water and sun protection even during the cooler season.

03

Book high-demand viewpoints and desert experiences in advance.
